In the workshop available in Orsay, the group can perform several repair operations on germanium detectors:
- diagnostic
- FET and temperature probe change
- pre-amplifier change or repair
- annealing
For these purposes, the workshop is equipped with two annealing benches with one valve for Canberra detector and one valve for Ortec detector.
To open the detector, we work in a clean room to ensure a low contamination of the germanium.
The detector’s resolution can then be tested in the workshop with a source of Cobalt 60, or Europium.
We are currently developing a new test setup based on the Faster electronics which would allow us to characterize four channels at once.
